ROV Pilot Technician Training
A new career in remotely operated vehicles – take a closer look
Interesting and challenging career: Good earning potential
Are you looking for an interesting and challenging career that allows you to make the most of your technical abilities and provides good earning potential? Train as an ROV pilot technician at The Underwater Centre and you’ll be well on your way to a rewarding new career.
Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) are unmanned submersibles controlled from the surface by skilled pilots. ROVs are widely used in the offshore oil and gas industry, as well as in civil engineering, underwater archaeology, police work, and in the renewable energy sector. The subsea industry’s future will depend on having new, skilled personnel as it continues to develop.
Comprehensive, practical, industry training in ROV operations – fully preparing you
Our training covers all aspects of ROV operations, including maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and piloting. The extensive operational experience gained on our ROV courses means that, as well as being developed and run in accordance with guidelines set out by the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA)*, our courses go beyond those guidelines to further prepare you for the role of ROV pilot technician. We’re also in regular contact with the major subsea companies to make sure that you’re learning exactly what they need.
You can now give yourself the very best preparation for your ROV career and gain a competitive advantage with our new and unique work class ROV training course.
Fly real industry-standard ROVs
You’ll train in subsea conditions that are as close to the real working environment as you can get, supervised by expert instructors with a wealth of industry experience. You’ll learn to fly real industry-standard ROVs in open water, against tides and currents in all types of weather and visibility.
Gain crucial understanding and skills to keep an ROV operating smoothly
As well as lots of hands-on flying experience, you’ll gain the crucial understanding and skills you’ll need to keep an ROV operating smoothly. You’ll learn vital skills like fibre optics, hydraulics, sonar operations, tether management, crane operations and radio communications. You’ll also train alongside our commercial diving students – preparing you for working with divers on real jobs.
So, if you want to take your technical experience and skills in a new direction, training at The Underwater Centre is the best possible start to an exciting new career.
