Our team of Student Advisors are on hand to provide guidance and assistance. As well as that we look after the necessary paperwork required to get your certification, and our hospitality team are here when you’re on course to make sure you’re looked after.

Ingrid Vickers, Student Advisor
Ingrid said: 'I love the fact that I get to speak to people from all over the world, from all different backgrounds. After being in touch with people for so long, it's great to meet them in person when they attend a course. I always say to them to keep in touch with me when they leave as it's great to get feedback on where in the world they end up. I get people from companies calling looking for newly qualified divers and some of them are ex-students who originally trained here. They know and trust me so are comfortable calling looking for candidates to put forward for work. I love that side to my job as I'm naturally a people person.'

Joanna MacDonald, Hospitality Manager
Joanna says: 'Extending hospitality to the saturation chamber during the mixed gas training was really interesting for me. I tried to see things from the perspective of the students who are in the saturation chamber for a few days during decompression, and think about what their needs might be.'
'Students attend our diving and ROV courses from various cultures and backgrounds, and so their needs vary from electric plugs to different diets. It's amazing what can seem like a big issue when you're away from home, getting to grips with a different climate, and being back in a classroom. We do everything we can to help make life easier when they're staying here.'

Lorna MacPherson, Student Advisor/ Office Manager
As well as managing the day to day running of the office which is the main point of contact for anyone considering training at The Underwater Centre, the part of her job Lorna enjoys most is helping the students through the tricky process of deciding on a new career.
Lorna said: 'After numerous conversations before the students' arrival you feel you gain a connection with them and a better understanding of what they want to achieve from training here. It's great to be able to use the knowledge we have to help them on their career path.
'Over the years I have learned so much about diving and ROV training. I've gained a wealth of experience from listening to the students and talking to the experienced Instructors we have here at the Centre. I've done a surface supplied dive, flown an ROV and even tried fusion splicing in the ROV electronics and engineering workshop.'
